Cancer Patient Lab is a patient-led community that was founded with a mission to help advanced cancer patients and their caregivers. Our team provides you with the tools and resources you need to make informed decisions about your treatments. We believe that nobody should face cancer alone, and that's why we've created a platform where patients can connect with each other and with experts in the field. We help patients and caregivers avoid cancer journey pitfalls and adopt best practices by gathering and sharing data, especially experiences, across our community. We are constantly learning and applying that knowledge within our community. We're here to support you every step of the way.

Brad Power

Co-founder, President

In 2018 Brad Power was diagnosed with lymphoma and went through a course of chemotherapy. Building on that experience and his 35+ years of consulting about ways to change work using technology, he decided to help people with advanced cancer learn about their disease, new tests, and new treatments to choose their best unique treatment, with a focus on patients and caregivers who are facing complex decisions outside standard treatment options. He has run several “hackathons" (crowds convened to find the best next treatment) for patients and serves as an advisor to several startups reinventing care, including 4DPath, Alva10, Blue Note Therapeutics, Cancer Commons, Consuli, Rabble Health, and Travera; and is an active contributor to the Personalized Medicine Coalition.

Brian McCloskey

Co-founder, COO

Brian is a San Diego-based healthcare and technology marketing executive, a husband and father of 3, a surfer, and a patient advocate. Professionally, Brian has spent over 25 years building data-driven solutions to personalize consumer experiences. That background became pivotal in how he approached his cancer diagnosis in Aug. 2016. Becoming a patient advocate in 2018, he presented a personalized medicine blue-sky concept at the UCSD Health Industry/Academia Translational Oncology Symposium. Since then he has been involved in several patient advocacy initiatives, including a project he initiated in 2021 with Reboot Rx to identify FDA-approved drugs that could be repurposed to treat prostate cancer patients, A New AI Tool Identifies Generic Drugs with Anticancer Potential. Also, Brian provides patient advisory and motivational speeches to industry and academia such as Tempus Labs, Illumina, Bayer, Quest Diagnostics, Foundation Medicine, and the National Alliance of State Prostate Cancer Coalitions. Rick Stanton

Co-founder, CTO

Rick Stanton is a southern California based family man with a long held passion to help cancer patients in need. In 2020 he was diagnosed with prostate cancer. He believes an integrated understanding of patient state, genomic state, immune state and trajectory will help inform clinical therapy decisions.

He is an engineer / data scientist with experience in complex physical and biological signaling systems. He has experience in genomics, transcriptomics, cellular pathway signaling, and immune signaling. 17 years Amgen, 5 years JCVI / Human Longevity, 3 years ThermoFisher Scientific. Technologies: AI, machine/deep learning, AWS hosted secure web applications, scientific programming.
